Our Screening Process

We have high standards for our nannies, sitters, and families. We are sure you will appreciate it.  Choosing a Savvy Southern Belle Agency childcare professional says you are covered by the very best. 

Our childcare specialists must meet the specific minimum requirements:

 

  • A United States citizen or able to work in the United States  with proof of documentation

 

  • 21 years or older (18 years or older for sitters)

 

  • Valid Social Security Card bearing legal name with security trace

 

  • Background Screening (child abuse registry, sex offender registry, felony and misdemeanor check, driving record, employment verification, and U.S. education verification

 

  • Negative Tuberculosis (TB) Test or Chest X-ray (taken within 12 months)

 

  • Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification

 

  • Knowledge of child development as evidenced by a combination of at least two of the  following:

 

  • At least 30 college credit hours in early childhood development, education, or psychology (college degrees are preferred)  

 

  • At least 2 years experience working with children (with degree) or  3 years experience  (without degree). More experience is required for baby nurses and doulas.

 

  • At least 12 clock hours in childcare education (development, nutrition, child play, etc).  Training will be obtained prior to placement.

 

  • Passing score on the International Nanny Association (INA) basic skills test.

Additionally our childcare specialist must demonstrate:

 

  • A loving, nurturing demeanor with a natural affinity towards children

  • A strong work ethic

  • Reliability and responsibility

  • Flexibility, sound judgment 

  • Ability to follow a demanding schedule and stay organized

  • Good communication-Fluent in English (Bilingual/Multilingual are greatly welcomed)
