Doula Placements
A doula can be an invaluable resource for mothers (and their families) in welcoming a baby into their home. "Doula" comes derives from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who services".
Birth (labor support) Doulas are known for supporting the emotional and physical comfort needs of pregnant women to during the labor process. While birth doulas are not able to perform clinical tasks, they are able to recommend labor positioning techniques, offer aromatherapy, massages, etc., to the patient to assist in the labor process. The role of the birth doula is heavily focused upon during the stages leading up to birth and stay up until several hours after giving birth.

The role of a postpartum doula begins usually the moment mom returns home from the hospital. Postpartum doulas are also able to detect the early stages of postpartum depression, which can play a vital role in drastically reducing the severity and recovery time of the illness. The length of a postpartum doulas stay can be anywhere from a few days up to several months. An example of customized care we enjoy providing to our clients would be lactation support at your hospital, birth center or home birth as part of your postpartum care. It is our goal at Mother Baby Connection, to foster a positive postpartum and breastfeeding experience. We also offer education for those who wish to pursue bottle feeding of their newborn.

Many baby nurses carry certifications such as lactation consultant, sleep training, prenatal parenting, newborn specialist, CPR/First Aid, postpartum doula care and more. Not all baby nurses have experience working with multiples, so will we ask specific questions relating to your situation when recommending a baby nurse.
